Arif Halaby and his staff helped organize an event centered around the well-known, half-scale traveling model of the Vietnam Memorial Wall coming to Santa Clarita. He decided that the names of all 58,195 servicemen killed in action during the Vietnam Wall were to be read aloud by volunteers, non-stop for 24 hours a day until they were completed, which spanned over 3 days. Many local military veterans volunteered as readers. A commemorative challenge coin was given to each of the readers as a token of appreciation for their participation.
